Q: When did you join 60K?
I joined 60K on the 16th of August 2017. I started as a Customer Service Representative, went through a couple of temporary support roles and development programs until reaching the Team Leader role.
Q: Is this role what you expected to be in when you started in the workforce? How did it change?
Yes, this role is everything I expected and so much more. The interesting thing about leadership is that you can shape who you want to be and although we are all reaching for the same KPI goals, it is entirely up to you to decide how are you going to reach your destination. I find it very dynamic, but also quite fun. I am managing the best team in the project for Sofia, while leading one of the most wanted development programs in the project - the Customer Insight Specialist Team. Although it may seem like a lot of responsibility, I make it look very easy as the key to my success is being able to work efficiently with good time management.
Q: Have you drawn professional inspiration from other women? Tell us about someone who has inspired you.
Drawn professional inspiration from other women, I don't think so, if I need to appoint one as my role model, but the biggest impact comes from my better half. He was the most influential leader I have met, and I wanted to outdo him in every aspect.
Q: What barriers have you faced, as a woman, in becoming successful in your field? How did you overcome them?
It is quite challenging to become a successful female leader, as you are predominantly working with male and building a relationship with them, but also earning their respect may be in some scenarios difficult. My dedication, overall workload and contribution to the project earned me the appreciation of the other team leaders, managers, and advisors.
Q: Based on your own experience, what advice would you give to women considering pursuing a career in your field?
My advice for other women interested in entering the world of leadership - be patient, every event takes time, but you will feel when the time is right to cease your opportunity. Be more confident in your own abilities, but do not turn blind eye to other people's feedback. Be more adaptable - you will often get challenged and underestimated for what you are doing, but this doesn't mean that you necessarily need to defend and prove yourself all the time, as this is unnecessary energy invested which is going to bring you nothing but frustration and disappointment. Try to adapt to people and situations and you will learn how to shine, when to be loud and when you need to remain silent. Lastly, never take things personal, it's natural for other people to have low expectations, and trust me it is okay, as with experience, you will find out how this works in your favor more than you think.
Q: How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you?
It is important for women to lift each other up and I find it very motivational myself every day. I happened to find my very loyal and supportive besties while working in 60K and I am proud to say that they one of the main reasons why I aim to be one of the best. I want my girls to be proud of me, so that I can create an environment in which they feel empowered and valued by giving them a good example.
Q: How are your managers supporting you in your personal and career development?
My managers are very supportive of me and my development, both career and personal wise. I am blessed to work with caring, kind and people- oriented managers that are focused on our well-being and even sometimes overly protective. Another reason why I am determined to continue growing is the support I receive from them as I feel empowered to achieve great things in the future.
